A Universal Starting Point:

Preventing Severe Emotional Behaviour

An evidence-based approach for deeply feeling learners

This course equips practitioners and caregivers with evidence-based strategies for moving from crisis management to preventing severe emotional behavior by identifying and proactively teaching essential skills. Dr. Luczynski’s thoughtful approach to preventing challenging behavior creates a course that combines practical interventions with professional rigor while addressing the goals of the learner and family. Each course session provides real-life scenarios, useful interventions, and delivers meaningful outcomes to you and the clients you serve.

Learn to analyze challenges through pre-change and post-change contexts, discovering three universal shifts that underlie most challenging behaviors: cooperation (shifting from child-led to adult-led activities), accepting less (sharing materials and people), and flexibility (accepting changes). Participants will:

  • Explore universal behavioral readiness that applies beyond specialized clinics
  • Prevent challenging behavior with proactive, evidence-based tools
  • Teach flexibility, cooperation, and tolerance
  • Build practical competencies for implementing universal interventions
  • Support learner’s development and family quality of life
